MAP Group (UK) announces 150 broadband jobs for Teesside

Telecoms firm Map Group MAP (UK), which has its headquarters at Preston Farm, works with the likes of Virgin Media, BT and the NHS in one of the “biggest growth industries in Britain” – fibre-optic broadband.

Its latest recruitment wave will add to its 400-strong headcount and potential candidates don’t need to have any experience sector as full training will be given.ADVERTISING

The company, which also has offices at Portrack, is one of the leading independent providers of technology services to the UK communications market.

Successful candidates will all be employed directly by Map Group and while some prior experience may be preferable, says chief executive Mike Carlin, Map Group’s partner Cablecom will walk recruits through the training.

“We will then put them out in the field, in various aspects of fibre-optics,” he said.

“We are looking to try and fill as many roles as we can with local people.

“These roles will reinforce our current workforce and also increase our headcount in other areas.

“We will be taking on apprentices as well as bringing in people who have no experience.

“This is one of the biggest growth industries in Britain, broadband is needed everywhere.

“We are going from strength to strength as a business, expanding other areas as well.

“We are an associate of Cornerstone Business Solutions and have also just acquired Cablecom.

“It’s a very progressive area.

“There will be a shortage of labour nationally; the more personnel we have, the more we can deliver to our clients.”

An open day will be held for applicants to gain an idea of what is required in the roles prior to interview stage, he added.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen posted about the recruitment drive on Facebook.

He said: “Just got off the phone with Mike Carlin – Chief Executive of Map Group (UK)

“Good news is: he tells me there are 150 telecoms jobs available! If you get through, they’ll put you on a proper training course and offer you a guaranteed position.138259102799

“With salaries starting at £24,000, and onwards up to £40k+, it’s definitely worth going for.

“Local workers must always come first, so get applying!”

Why join MAP Group?

There is much more to MAP than an army high-viz jackets working from our fleet of branded vans – they are just the tip of our business iceberg.

Our work in the field is supported by a nationwide team of designers, surveyors, planners, engineers, health and safety experts, trainers and civils managers. Head Office is also home of the Human Resources and Accounts functions along with the Streetworks Department and the wider project teams.

And that work is long-term and financially rewarding.

We are direct employers. You will work for Map Group and enjoy all the associated benefits. If you are in the field, that includes a uniform, a vehicle with no hidden costs and the correct tools for the job. We encourage personal development and career progression, even if that means switching your role within the group. We encourage learning. There is a strong partnership with our neighbours, the DTN Academy which provides MAP with the trained and qualified people to fulfil our growing order book. The DTN is equipped with the latest online and classroom video courses to make learning and qualifications so much easier.
