Map Group (UK) require Fibre Engineers to join the Company as part of various national contracts.

Job Description

  • Work on the fibre-optic infrastructure for Fibre FTTP network delivery
  • Design schematics, duct diagrams and works instructions
  • Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps
  • Undertake works to set job packs & network design
  • Undertaking Test Rod & Roping / Cabling within the Openreach network
  • Locate blockages and establish clear routes
  • Produce A55’s in consultation with the Surveyor
  • Completion and submission of all necessary documentation
  • Civils avoidance detection and mapping
  • Installation of cables, sub duct UG
  • Installation of Nodes, Mobra’s & CBT’s UG
  • Installation of Blown Fibre Tubing (BFT) and blowing Fibre Initial Test rod and rope of Underground cable routes
  • Working at heights and in the UG network whilst adhering to H&S legislation
  • Working as a part of team to achieve daily, weekly targets and KPIs
  • Adhere to company H&S Policies & Procedures
  • Conduct Risk Assessments
  • Adhere to NRSWA CoP

Experience & Skills Required (training can be provided)

  • 18 months experience working on a Telecommunications networks
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads to ensure targets are met and exceeded
  • Experience and qualifications in installing “blown fibre” networks.
  • Experience in installing “blown fibre” tubing (Underground and overhead)
  • Fibre jointing/splicing
  • End to end testing of fibre networks (OTDR)
  • Fire stopping (provision/removal)
  • Drilling experience internally and externally (Diamond, percussion & Core)
  • NRSWA Street works accreditation
  • NOPS Card
  • Accreditations (SA001, SA002, S7, S8, N27, N28, NRSWA)
  • A willingness to travel between our contract sites
  • A full UK driving license
  • Experience of running cables is essential
  • Have a basic understanding of Networking
  • Proficient in using technology – for example: tablets/mobile phones/Microsoft packages.

Desirable

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workloads to ensure targets are met and exceeded
  • A minimum of 18 months recent experience is required of working on a Telecommunications multimedia network.
  • Experience and qualifications in installing “blown fibre” networks.
  • Experience in installing “blown fibre” tubing (Underground and overhead)
  • Fibre jointing/splicing
  • End to end testing of fibre networks (OTDR)
  • Fire stopping (provision/removal)
  • Drilling experience internally and externally (Diamond, percussion & Core)

Location of Work

This role may be on a variety of contracts and you will be required to travel around the UK to fulfil Company requirements.
